Division I

SSI: Sight-Singing for the Choral Singer: Division I

sSight-Singing for the Choral Singer: Division I (Unison) is a combined curriculum and sight-singing book containing twelve units of carefully sequenced lessons with unison rhythmic and melodic exercises for novice vocalists seeking to gain the ability to read music in a choral rehearsal setting. These lessons begin with rhythmic reading using a Latin-based counting system along with note identification, followed by an introduction into intervals and solfège syllables, and concluding with scale-building and melodic exercises in all major keys. Emphasis is placed on developing rhythmic competency prior to introducing melodic exercises, as melody is not incorporated until the second half of the book.
