Divisions, Units, and Lessons
The CG Junior Multi-Media Curriculum is organized into divisions which subdivide into units and lessons.
Each lesson contains instructional and practice materials such as

Beyond the digital materials, CG Junior is providing a companion series of physical textbooks, workbooks, and sight-reading books which correspond directly with the online lessons—available soon for separate purchase. Â
Music literacy for elementary students that prioritizes sight-singing​
The curriculum produced by CG Junior is designed to prepare young students for private music lessons and ensemble membership by introducing concepts of sight-reading—using the voice as the primary instrument—while incorporating a general understanding of the mechanics of learning to play instruments.
How it works
Curriculum Series: Combines Digital and Physical Media
CG Junior follows a curriculum series entitled Sight-Singing for the Junior Singer which is a compilation of physical and digital materials that follow the same curriculum sequence. For example, Division I: Unit Five: Lesson III is the same across all physical and digital media (textbooks, workbooks, sight-reading books and the multi-media subscription).
Subscription Does Not Require Separate Purchase
The CG Junior subscription—along with any of the other materials available for purchase—can be used on their own, but it is recommended to purchase all of the materials to get the most out of the curriculum.
Please note that all digital materials—such as videos and slideshows—are available on this CG Junior online subscription, while all physical materials—such as rhythm books, workbooks, and textbooks—are available to purchase separately as the books are not available in digital form.
Sample Lesson Sequence
One possible method for use of these materials in combination with each other when presenting Division I: Unit Two: Lesson IV:
- Begin class with an activity or a warm-up
Review previous lesson: Unit Two: Lesson III
- Use the rhythm book and recite the exercises in a slightly faster tempo or use a slideshow rhythm cards for a quick review
- Review the instructional slideshow or video and complete the review worksheet from the workbook
- Teach new lesson: Unit Two: Lesson IV
- Read the lesson provided in the textbook
- Â Watch the instructional video
- Recite the rhythmic exercises from the rhythm book
- Complete the worksheet for this lesson from the workbook
- Engage in a rhythm activity that incorporates rhythmic elements from current & previous lessons
